Vannevar Bush

An extract from a recent assignment that I had to do in my infromation retrival class:

Dr. Bush I believe was man of great understanding, vision, and balance. To be able to foresee the importance of technology and sciences in ensuring peace was truly remarkable. He was quick to change from a war time science “general”, to a peace time advocate of growth. This was the same man who advised President Truman on the early bombing of Japan, who later turned his attention towards establishing a scientific outfit for progress or what we know today as the National Science Foundation, which is responsible for creating some of the best works in nearly most spheres of science and technology known to man, which are mostly used for peaceful purposes. His work in the techniques of managing digital media in order to help mankind understand itself better and thus grow at a quick pace was another instance which showed that he was not a war hungry scientist but much more. He was a scientist first beyond anything else, who analyzed the situation at hand and acted accordingly. He ensured the security of his nation during war with something like the Manhattan Project and equally well during peace with the sowing seeds of NSF.
